Gelato in January...

It's another crazy beautiful sunny and 74 on the last day of January, which is insane people...crazy global warming insane.  I am loving every minute of it, but it is nuts!  I just saw a Mayfly, a Mayfreakinfly in January flying around my laundry room looking as thoroughly confused as I was.  So while I was out shopping for the family dinner of roasted tomato linguine with chicken, which is awesome by the way and I probably should have taken the time to blog about it, but I got distracted with other yummy things...and I thought to my very own self...how bout some gelato lady?  And my very own self answered...um yeah!  So I went to Paciugo and got a really yummy especially delish scoop of Mediterranean Sea Salt Carmel and it is sooooooo good...so...very...good!  It's the perfect mix of sweet and salty...

Lordy people this is good stuff...run as fast as you can for a scoop!
Here's our new puppy Blue eyeballing said tasty gelato!
So this weather got me thinking about other things that would be fabulous in January, February, and March...

How about going someplace where I could wear this...

I think one of those minty mojitos just kicked my tasty sea salt gelato in its wee little bum...

There's been a new addition to the Cheeky family...

And his name is Blue...I mean it kind of had to be don't ya think?

Look at his sweet little eye...
Look at his gynormous paws!
He's a sixth month old Catahoula/Aussie Sheepdog mix rescue dog and Santa brought him early on Christmas Eve...and by Santa I mean Big D and the whole lot of us loaded up in the gas guzzling SUV at 7:30 in the morning, which is hilarious/borderline mentally insane with three teenagers, to go get him.  Puppies are the best/worst things ever...like babies without diapers, but Blue is 99% trained, but I'm up at 3 in the morning running outside in my sad little socks doing the potty dance, "Good boy Blue, yay!"  I'm going to chalk it up to feeling somewhat empty nestish since my giant man child is off at college...

But he's a digger...
And it's kind of a mess...

But he's learning how to fit in just fine...
Just like everyone else...

Loving the look of nail head trim...

I love the look of nail head trim on furniture.  It gives an elegant finish to an already pretty great piece...

Like here, nail head trim looks so unbelievable on an upholstered headboard...

The Fabulous Beekman Boys...

I just finished reading The Bucolic Plague, by Josh Kilmer-Purcell, one of the two Beekman Boys who make up the hilarious duo in the now cancelled show on Planet Green called The Fabulous Beekman Boys.  It's about two New York City boys one, a doctor turned business man, and the other a former drag queen turned Advertising Excutive on their annual apple picking weekend trip to upstate NY.  They get lost only to come across a village called Sharon Springs that has certainly seen better days and happen upon the Beekman Farm, where they fall in love with the town, the people, and the farm.  They transition to goat farming, soap making, and Martha Stewart seeking perfection in an imperfect situation.

This is the most gorgeous farm where they raise goats...stop it...wee little goats!  How much more amazing can this place be?

And they make amazing soap with their milk...

It's 77 in Dallas...let's do it again people...antiquing!

Let's face it, I probably have a problem...but I had to go back!  It is the most gorgeous day and why not  spend it on the square in Mckinney!  Also Big D is out of town so what he doesn't know...yada, yada, yada...
This was my fab find of the day yesterday that now sits in Casa Cheeky...
Isn't she purty?
I know she's needs a bit of attention, and I may try to get her restored, but she's kind of perfectly perfect the way she is...

Oh and I found these old tongs and butter knife...
It's like wee little bird talons...which is slightly creepy if you think of bird talons curling around your ice cube, or baby hors d'oeuvres
...so we will just put that out of our minds, K?
And these silver candle sticks and pressed glass bowl...
I swear I won't go back tomorrow...

It's 68 in January...let's go antiquing!

We are having the most mild January in Dallas that I have ever experienced in the 14 years I have lived here.  Now I realize as soon as I have said this, Mother Nature will take sweet revenge on me and February will probably end up being some god awful ice ridden mess where I never want to leave my house.  But today it was beautiful so I headed out for a little bit of antiquing.
This industrial clock is the coolest thing I have seen in a while...
Industrial letters...
Poor little stuffed duck...is it a duck?  Not sure, but I know that somebody would love this!
Anyone need a safari hat?
Love this old map...
This looks like the industrial pieces out of Restoration Hardware, but this is authentic not a reproduction...
Old milk bottles in their container...
This actually is a new piece, but how great this would be for blankets...
A sweet blue twin bed...
Love these mirrors...
This cabinet from Provence is beyond gorgeous!
Tomorrow it's going to be even warmer...I might have to go back for another day of fun...

There's something about a simple room...

There is just something about a simple room.  The way it holds its own without too many bells and whistles.  There is something serene about an unfussy environment.

In the bedroom...

I love this.  White walls, painted beams, adding a touch of pale blue to the pillow...
