Cheeky in Blue: Tile choices for Beach Cheeky...

The house is moving along fast now with drywall going up, the roof being put on, and it's getting painted people (more details to come later)! I have been going crazy driving all over town trying to make tile choices, and I think I've narrowed it down to the final choices. In the guest bathrooms we are going with just a basic white subway tile. The builder likes to use matte, but I opted for glossy, because I'm not so much a fan of the matte.

In the downstairs master bath, we are going with a white marble subway tile like this...

The upstairs master bath is going to be a blue glass tile. The builder uses AKDO icelandic blue glass tile very pretty at 18.25 per square foot...

But when I went looking for tile I found something almost identical at Ann Sacks called Lucian glass in azure, which has amazing tile as well for a much better price, saving us about $2000.

Here they are side by side, the AKDO is just a titch darker than the Ann Sacks, but hey, for 2000 bones I'm actually fine with that...

To be honest the builder wasn't super happy with my goin rogue on the tile choices and not using their vendor. On some level I get it, they have people they are used to working with and if there's a problem, they feel comfortable with the response of the people they know and close to where they build. In the end, I made it clear what my decision was and that was that...that was that. I'm learning as I go, and people who have built homes before probably are well aware of the give and take between client and builder. I say this because if you have a strong sense of what you want, don't let them talk you out of it! Besides a few oh crap moments, the builder has been great.

Now for the kitchen, more great stuff from Ann Sacks...

The first one is called Savoy at 14.95 per square foot...I like the blue edge, but I'm afraid I might get tired of it after a bit...

The second one is called Capriccio Sky Blue Gloss and for the 2 x 4 tile it runs $20.52 per square foot, not as economical, but we are dealing with a much smaller area than the bathroom...love the color, something I think that could go with many different color palettes for the beach...

This one is a their custom Crackle aqua really gorgeous color, not super economical at $30.96 per square foot...

Here they are behind white to get a better idea of their color...

A lighter Crackle color called Ming...too green I think...

And the super cray cray expensive Laura Kirar Scribble series in pastel at a whopping $48.96 per square foot...

So which one am I leaning towards? I'm pretty heavily leaning towards...

The Capriccio Sky Blue Gloss!!!! As much as I loved the crackle, I think the super aqua color might grow weary on me and limit my blue options down to well, mainly aqua because it's splashed across my kitchen and the main room of the house. I feel like the Sky Blue Gloss gives me more options like bringing in a great indigo accent like here in this pillow...
