Christmas shopping madness...what to buy?

I am completely utterly unprepared for what to get the people in my life for Christmas.  Lord knows there are worse problems to have, but shopping at Christmas starts to become a bit desperate after a certain point don't you think?  We all get to that place where we are running to Walgreens to get one more thing on Christmas Eve, because the piles look uneven!!!  And someone might really want that singing hamster on Christmas morning right?!  So here are some things that I'm loving that might work before you get to that point...
Velvet loafers are all the rage and you can get them lots of places in all kinds of price points...
Found these at Zara for a steal...39.50
cha ching!
These fab ones come in green and a pale gray from Urban Outfitters...

Fab faux fur everything...
I'm going for Kiera's look in Anna Karenina, which was sadly real fur me thinks, but gorgeous...
This is a Michael Kors neck warmer, or snood, I'm sorry I laugh every time I say snood...it's so very snoody...not bad for 59 bones...

And lord knows we need a good concealer.  I was only using YSL's Touche Eclat, which is an illuminator and great to stick in your purse for mid afternoon touch ups...a wee bit expensive for 40 gold fish crackers...

but from my lack of sleep of the past few weeks, I had to head over to Sephora for the big guns, Laura Mercier's The Flawless Face Book for $59.00...this people, works a minor miracle...

Snuggly cozy blanket...
The thing is that I walk around my house wrapped in various blankets during the winter, but my personal fave are the Threshold Microplush Blankets ones from Target ranging in price from $22.99-$29.99...

Big D prefers my collection of vintage, and is horrified by the synthetic whatever that is wrapped around me at any given time, but it is what it is people!  Here's to Big D's blanket choice du jour, which for the record I love too, but they're not quite as snuggly in December...This is a great feedsack quilt, it's a bit more coming in on Etsy for around $250.00...
Socks!
These are days of the week from H & M and are a 7 pack for $12.95
Anthropologie t-cups...how cute are these?

But if you really want that hamster from Walgreens on Christmas Eve, have at it...

Happy Shopping!

Christmas decorating that's simple...

Another day at Casa Cheeky decorating with lights, greenery, sparkles and bows, but I love to look through my Country Home and Country Living magazines and live vicariously through their style, which I love!  Sometimes I look around at all the glitz and lights and think oy vey at night it's fab, but in the day it's a garish hot mess of nonsense!  I miss the tradition of real trees, and real greenery; the smell and texture can just quite simply not be duplicated.  I was one of those people that said I would never, NE-HEH-VAH, have a fake tree.  They were well...fake.  Yet each and every year for about a month in December, I noticed that my kids were sick with every kind of bronchial/asthma/sinus infection known to man, and come to think about it, I couldn't really breathe either.  So apparently I had been exposing my kiddos to allergies to the point of causing pneumonia and my very own self to not breathing for a solid four weeks thinking it was who knows what?  So that ended my pledge for no fake trees...but I miss them, because they're simple.  They smell like something.  They smell like Christmas.  They make a memory.  Their mere texture is enough without all the bells, whistle, and lights to make them more than what they were meant to be...

Simple...

Simply the best Christmas tree...

Love and love...

After Thanksgiving muffin tops...

I love Thanksgiving, really people I do, but am so very sick of food at this point and am desperate for someone to come clean out my fridge and throw it all away!  Seriously, I can not look at one more homemade saturated fat item anymore, not to mention the incredibly attractive muffin that has henceforth attached itself to me like a bad habit! It's time to get back to the gym, and I will, as soon as I find enough energy to crawl out of my butter/gravy haze, and as soon as I finish this cup of baked potato soup that I just picked up from Chilli's, because clearly I have a problem...then, only then shall I drag my sad little muffin to the gym and have my way with it.

It's time for Christmas, and I'm all over the house doing ADD decorating/cleaning, because one can not be done without the other...wish I'd thought of this...

Don't you love it?

I shall think creative Christmas decorating thoughts whilst driving myself to the gym...

By the way, did I tell you I liked blue?

     Sigh...

It's blue and velvet, oh yeah and Chanel...not too shabby, but very cheeky...

Sunday evenings by the fire...

We are having the most perfect weather in Dallas right now.  Sweatshirt wearing days with coat worthy evenings has us to lighting the outdoor fireplace and watching The Wizard of Oz and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas...
The day was spent cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, which followed 2 days of the same, a necessity from being gone for four days with three dogs, and Big D in charge...scattering and keeping the ever present dust bunnies at bay, not to mention the dreaded muddy dog prints that haunt my every waking moment!

Thanksgiving is just a few days away so Big D and I tried out our new Turkey fryer, which isn't a fryer at all, but an infrared oil-less turkey cooker that is supposed to be the best thing ever with out all that oil that one deep fries their turkey in...but we tried it with a chicken so that Thanksgiving wouldn't be potentially ruined by us not knowing what in the world we are doing on turkey day...sadly I didn't take a picture of the chicken, but it was delish, and hopefully the
Thanksgiving turkey will be too...

and you know how I feel about that amazing deep fried turkey...

How perfectly perfect is that deep fried turkey?

It's the most wonderful time of the year...almost!

I know, I know...WTH where be the post'n of the Cheeky?  I'm SO very slow motion LLLAAAMMMEEE!!!!!  Guess what though?  I just got back from NYC, my favorite place in the whole wide world next to the beach of course, and it was beautiful!  We saw no lingering signs of Sandy in the city, although I know many people in Statin Island, Coney Island,  New Jersey, Connecticut and surrounding areas are struggling immensely.  It was the most gorgeous weekend with just enough cold to make it feel festive.  There are signs of Christmas starting to spring up around the city...

That's Bergdorf Goodman with the Plaza on the right...
They were just starting to decorate the inside, but sadly I did not take pics.  I actually tried once, and they asked me, well, to not thank you very much!  But they were doing white snow covered branches over every arch with twinkling white lights, and huge trees made of the same branches in beautiful planters.  They looked like a much grander version of these trees which are in Mckinney at a store called Gray Living, and while beautiful, not nearly as spectacular as Bergdorf's!  I may have to try and replicate this at home, because the large one here, which is not large at all people, was 300 bones.  I may or may not attempt said crafty branch tree project because A.  I'm kind of cheap, it's 300 bones for branches! B.  We are talking massive branch hunting in my coyote covered area like I'm Pa Ingalls running around with Jack in Minna-SODA.  And  C.  My ability to convince Big D that this is a worthy project for him to actually take on so I don't go spend 300 bones...
The plaza was just beginning to put up their Christmas wreaths...

A revolving tree at Radio City Music Hall...

It was lovely...
