We have paint at Beach Cheeky!

I just received a few recent pics of the latest happenings over at Beach Cheeky, and I was so excited to see actual real paint on the outside of the house and the tin roof is being put on!  The drywall is starting to go up, and it's starting to look lighter and brighter every day!

Benjamin Moore on the outside (I can't remember which one we picked, but I will post updates later)

Baby girl's room with the smallest closet EVAH...don't get me started...well at least she has the view!

Next on the list is finishing up decisions on lighting, cabinet choices, and range hood options!

PINCH ME IT'S REALLY HAPPENING!!

Tile choices for Beach Cheeky...

The house is moving along fast now with drywall going up, the roof being put on, and it's getting painted people (more details to come later)!  I have been going crazy driving all over town trying to make tile choices, and I think I've narrowed it down to the final choices.  In the guest bathrooms we are going with just a basic white subway tile.  The builder likes to use matte, but I opted for glossy, because I'm not so much a fan of the matte.

In the downstairs master bath, we are going with a white marble subway tile like this...
The upstairs master bath is going to be a blue glass tile.  The builder uses AKDO icelandic blue glass tile very pretty at 18.25 per square foot...
But when I went looking for tile I found something almost identical at Ann Sacks called Lucian glass in azure, which has amazing tile as well for a much better price, saving us about $2000.
Here they are side by side, the AKDO is just a titch darker than the Ann Sacks, but hey, for 2000 bones I'm actually fine with that...
To be honest the builder wasn't super happy with my goin rogue on the tile choices and not using their vendor.  On some level I get it, they have people they are used to working with and if there's a problem, they feel comfortable with the response of the people they know and close to where they build.  In the end, I made it clear what my decision was and that was that...that was that.  I'm learning as I go, and people who have built homes before probably are well aware of the give and take between client and builder.  I say this because if you have a strong sense of what you want, don't let them talk you out of it!  Besides a few oh crap moments, the builder has been great.

Now for the kitchen, more great stuff from Ann Sacks...
The first one is called Savoy at 14.95 per square foot...I like the blue edge, but I'm afraid I might get tired of it after a bit...
The second one is called Capriccio Sky Blue Gloss and for the 2 x 4 tile it runs $20.52 per square foot, not as economical, but we are dealing with a much smaller area than the bathroom...love the color, something I think that could go with many different color palettes for the beach...
This one is a their custom Crackle aqua really gorgeous color, not super economical at $30.96 per square foot...
Here they are behind white to get a better idea of their color...
A lighter Crackle color called Ming...too green I think...
And the super cray cray expensive Laura Kirar Scribble series in pastel at a whopping $48.96 per square foot...
So which one am I leaning towards?  I'm pretty heavily leaning towards...
The Capriccio Sky Blue Gloss!!!!  As much as I loved the crackle, I think the super aqua color might grow weary on me and limit my blue options down to well, mainly aqua because it's splashed across my kitchen and the main room of the house.  I feel like the Sky Blue Gloss gives me more options like bringing in a great indigo accent like here in this pillow...
I would still be able to blend in other aqua colors because this tile can lean blue, or blue gray depending on the light...SUPER EXCITED!!!

A king is born!

In honor of the sweet little baby and currently nameless prince, I will devote todays post to all things across the pond, as they say...

Let's all take a moment to soak up the blue...

Feeling the need for a pretty spectacular blue moment.  Here are a few that I'm loving right now...

Perfectly peaceful blue...

I'm dying over these blue suede shoes...need them desperately!

How 'bout some with little bows...

Love this cabinet...

A little ruffle...or a lot...
A perfect blue kitchen...
Perfectly perfect!

Bitches get stuff done...

OK, forget the PC people, because I'm as progressive as they come, but the truth is Bitches get stuff done!  Learn it, know it, knit it in a sweater, slap it on a sweat shirt and wear it, because I'm giving you pearls here!  So remember my hot mess window situation with the builder?   One vanity space that happened to be 9 inches longer than the other?
Exhibit A...
Pissed off is what we were after talking to the builder and he was all, yeah, so there's that...
So after talking to friends and family who all said um yeah, HELL TO THE NO!  Mama got on the phone to raise all kinds of hell.

And the window is getting moved people

Know why?
Cause bitches get stuff done....

Other news du jour, m'choice on my faucet in the kitchen...Dun Dun dun...
I went with the Rohl Perrin and Rowe series, which is super purty people...

Now, trying to decide between 8' or 10' cabinets with 12 foot ceilings, I need pics to make my definitive decision...I'm leaning towards 10', but don't tell Big D, because the up charges are given him heart palpitations...

The subcontractor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the contractor against loss or threatened loss or expense by reason of the liability or potential liability of the contractor for or arising out of any claims for damages for said use of Bitches get stuff done...because, well, duh...they do...

Beach Cheeky updates with one or two OH CRAP situations...

I've been told that whenever you build a house there are always these moments when the builder had something totally different in mind than you did and sometimes you can fix it, and sometimes not so much.  Building a house three states away takes this to a whole different level considering we are doing this via email, pics, online ordering, and only two in person visits so far.  The first one happened when we went a couple of months ago when we noticed that the pool was way to close to the fireplace making it nearly impossible for anyone to functionally use, unless you are just basking in the pool staring at the fireplace.  So we shortened the pool by two feet and added seating around the deck on each side of the fireplace therefore making plenty of usable space in front of the fireplace.

This is where the builder put it which is nuts thank you very much.  Now mind you we did have the drawings, but the builder had drawn these palatial chairs in front of it, and we are thinking yeah, looks good, without getting out the tape measurer and actually spacing it for use...
I mean look at it, does anyone see a roomy chair situation happenin here?  I don't think so...
So we shortened the pool by two feet and now it's like this...

Now for the inside, remember the wood beam dilemma I was going through whether to get old beams or just use new ones?  Well there was a compromise.  They are taking old wood beam boards and wrapping them around an existing box so to simulate the old wood beam without the cost and weight that the full size beams would create.

Here is the space where they will go over the plywood...
 Towards the family room...
Facing the kitchen...
Now for the other uh-oh moments.  Closet space in my daughters room, well it's a closet if you lived perhaps in the 1930's, and sadly I don't have a pic of it probably because I was too busy having a fit about it!  Anyhoo here's our master bedroom and sitting area...

And another WTH builder?  The master bath has a window in-between the vanity which is fine, however it isn't centered between it...WHAT?  This would be one of those moments that aren't gettin fixed!  Now I'm officially cranky, because in the end it is our fault because we didn't notice it on the blue print, but who does this and why??????
A view of the stairwell...
Another downstairs...

Loving it!
