Vent hoods with 12 foot ceilings at Beach Cheeky...

I've been going back and forth on what to do with the vent hood over the range at Beach Cheeky.  We will have a 36" Wolf gas range and I would like to extend the hood 6 inches over each side to allow for a 48" hood.  The hood that is meant to go with it just isn't doing it for me, so I may have to get one built depending on the how much moolah is involved.

This is the standard Wolf hood that our builder uses over the Wolf range in their model homes...
They vent it through the ceiling by extending the wood boards that are used on the wall...
I'm just not a fan of this look, and if I can I would like to do something that has more appeal to the eye, because I feel like that area anchors the whole room.  At Beach Cheeky, the stove will be between 2 windows and instead of the wood boards, I am doing tile to the ceiling...who knows what tile at this point!!  So the space will look more like this...I am dying over the gorgeousness of this vent hood, which probably costs as much as a years worth of college...

I love both of these looks, but I'm not sure what to do about the 12 foot ceilings.  Since it is on an outside wall, I am hoping to be able to vent it through the wall rather than through the ceiling, which is first thing on my list to find out tomorrow!

Because here are some that I would love to put in Beach Cheeky...

I love everything about this kitchen!  These lights are adorable, and I'm thinking I might want to use them over the windows in Beach Cheeky.  I love the white hood mixed with the silver accents, but it goes all the way to the ceiling, which won't work with 12 foot ceilings...

This is an idea that could work, but I'm not sure how much I love it, it's a little more contemporary...

Here's one made with stone and stainless steal, but it's not really m'thing...

Here is a barrel style hood...

This scalloped edge hood has that cottage look that would be adorable at the beach...

What to do?  Time to call Mr. Builder...

Blue Hydrangeas and Beach Cheeky updates...

Big D and I spent the weekend catching up on much needed yard duties which included refurbishing dog trodden sod, mulch, and planting a few things here and there.  We have graduation coming up in just two weeks and we need to get the house in shape supa fast, because it has been sadly neglected with the crazy schedule we have been on as of late!  The blue hydrangeas are crazy beautiful right now...

The pots are finally planted...

And Beach Cheeky is coming along quickly with a roof and the front porch!

French doors waiting to be installed...

So exciting!  Right now I am picking out lighting which is tough because I'm doing it online, and trying to meet the builders deadlines for tile, flooring, wood beams, paint colors, and who knows what else!  I'm not complaining, this is all very thrilling and honestly a dream come true, and we feel incredibly blessed to be doing this.  It's all very surreal to be sure.

Speaking of flooring, here is what we are going with...a wire brushed  4" oak floor, that will look exactly like this...

Happy Memorial Weekend!

I'm still here people!  I have been a very naughty blogger because let's face it, I have been gone for almost three weeks!  Not gone literally, like to someplace fabulous and exotic laden with fruity libations and cabana boys.  Nothing that exciting, I have just been gone from the blogosphhere for far too long because of way too many things going on, and by night time my bed is calling out to me with promises of fluffy pillows and cozy nesting, and by then I'm lazy!  I have two more weeks of the craziness, and then it should be over.  So here's to having a very happy Memorial Weekend!  In Dallas the weather looks to be 83 and sunny, which is perfect considering last year it was like 97!

Let's not forget why we celebrate the day...
And there's nothing like a great party to start off the summer...

And some great food...

Or have a little picnic

Or a festive frozen margarita...yes please!
Or a little slice of heaven...

Or try to make my amazing Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Tart!

Yum!
