Back from a long Beach Cheeky break!

We are finally back from a long, relaxing break at the beach, and it was so incredibly relaxing and exciting to be in the new house.  We had chilly, but mild weather with most days being in the 50-60 degree range.  It was so odd being at the beach this time of year because although there were many people there coming to their homes for the holidays, it was so empty compared to summer, and we loved it!  No traffic or long waits for tables and Seaside was decked out for the holidays.  We woke up at the crack of dawn since we have zero blinds in the house, which is now first on the list of things to get done.  We were all exhausted by 8:30 and most nights in bed by 11, with the exception of New Years Eve, and we barely made midnight!  Now we are back in Dallas and it is freezing like the rest of the country.  I'm cooking chicken and noodles and bundled up in my blanket and getting Big D to light the fireplace.

Here's a few pics from the beachy Christmas…

I picked up some nautical ornaments at Wisteria in Dallas...
and some vintage ones on Ebay…
My old wooden pelicans that I found at one of the booths at The White Elephant in Dallas…they are now known as Fred and Ethyl!
This is Ethyl…
We had a rather large friend visit the pier on our first day…he's gynormous!
Everyone loved to sit out there…

It is so serene…
And the furniture finally came!  Well, some came later than we had hoped, but it all worked out in the end…remember the boat?  There it is along the wall!
I love how the hood turned out!  They still need to do a few things to the house like add the missing tile by the hood, and a whole host of other things, but we were grateful to be able to get in for the holidays...

The bunk room…
The breakfast nook, which still needs a table, seat cushions and blinds!
The blue shutters are up!
The lake is like a mirror here!
The beach and the water were gorgeous…
Can't wait until next time!

  1. I love the blue shutters! And your interior selections turned out beautifully! I'm sure you're really looking forward to having time to finish decorating and allowing yourself some reading time on the pier.
