The entryway of a house can set the tone for the rest of the home. You get a sense of what the home is about right from the very beginning, even if that's the only part of the house you get to see. I always struggle with my entry since I tend to stack everything on the stairs that needs to make its way up to the second floor at some point like towels, sheets, books, drill team uniforms, boots, and belts. So at any given time my entry is setting the someone needs to get their act together and clean up this hot mess tone...not exactly the look I'm going for.
