No one cheats on José!

Summer is here so let's all grab a book people!  First of all David Sedaris is without a doubt my favorite writer of all time.  He is a humorist who writes essays about his observations about people and his version of peculiar events in his colorful life. He is BRILLIANT!  Now he's not everyone's cup of tea, but those people don't know anything...I assure you!

I had the chance to go see him on his book tour and lecture a few weeks ago and he is hilarious.  I waited in line after the lecture to have him sign my brand spankin new book.  He has little conversations with every single person in line before he signs there book.  Like real conversations, but peculiar...David Sedaris style.  Two people in front of me, there was a young gorgeous latin man by the name of José who explained that he had just broken up with his boyfriend upon finding out that the cad was in fact cheating on him!  So, José, who is heartbroken, pissed, and out for revenge decides to steal all of his boyfriend's David Sedaris books while hightailing the heck out of that disfunction junction relationship.  David Sedaris is floored.  Not because he stole the books, but because José is a beautiful latin 26 year old engineer no less, and is a catch in anyones book and yet someone dared to cheat on him!

Just finished...

Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, by David Sedaris

So I started getting involved in the conversation upon my book being signed therefore prompting my brilliantly signed book...

I don't know what it is about summer, but I go through such a book phase every year!  I'm kind of always in a book phase, but they tend to sit around unread, more than being finished because I find an infinite amount of other distractions.  One would think that summer would provide a much bigger distraction with gardening, pool side activities, al fresco dinners, and the kids are all home!  There are more distractions for sure, but somehow I'm über focused on m'book infatuation.  When I think back to when I was a little niño, growing up in Indiana with the humid hot summers, I would spend an inordinate amount of time at my library doing the annual summer book club, and getting hoards of books every week.  It further progressed to my love of every Nancy Drew mystery out there until I found the greatness that is Judy Blume and effortlessly consumed every perfect word that any fourth grader was certain came from inner dialogue surreptitiously taken from their own brain!

Summer Book Club Cheeky in Blue Style

Read: Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, David Sedaris
Still Reading:  Going Clear, Lawrence Wright (about the wackadoo that is L. Ron Hubbard)
Just started:  The 10th of December, George Saunders (short stories)

Book on deck:  Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, Therese Anne Fowler

Looking forward to:  Fifty Shades of Chartreuse, Chelsey Handler (October release)...Why oh why can't this be released in the summer Chelsea....Whyyyyyyyyyy?!?!?!?!?!?!

Because I need a tawdry beach read people!  Something funny, that doesn't require a lot of brain activity, and I can't bring myself to subject m'brain to Fifty Shades of Grey...No Way...Can. Not. Do. It.
